This program is designed to help reduce backing crashes and incidents. Content includes an interactive classroom portion and an in-vehicle instructional session. Training identifies backing hazards and provides coping strategies, techniques, and maneuvers to avoid potential causes of crashes. Open discussions deal with speed, blind areas, and communication with other drivers. In-vehicle training conducted by experienced and qualified instructors investigates pre-operation inspections, correct backing techniques and procedures using staged obstacles, and corrected drives and practices. The practical section has three portions: Student observation, instructed drive and remedial drive.
