Overview
Ice Auger training provides candidates with the confidence, knowledge and skills to avoid hazards associated with power ice augers. This program is especially beneficial for new equipment operators and experienced operators who have developed unsafe handling practices or complacency.
This training is common to: water sampling personnel, ice road crews, spill response teams, municipal rescuers and ice fishermen.
Course Content
- Task Hazard Analysis (THA);
- Risk management planning;
- Equipment familiarization;
- Care and maintenance;
- Troubleshooting;
- Operational techniques;
- PPE; and
- Environmental considerations.
Arctic Response will tailor this course to include agency specific types of equipment, operating procedures and skills, such as multi-flight augering techniques.
